Persistent searches (ie. smart folders which I would describe as "live mining") is a very cool feature for email. You can create labels or folders than contain only emails that have certain dynamic parameters, like currently unread or received in the last 24 hours. Just help to manage the flow. The feature is part of the latest email client releases: Thunderbird and Evolution have the feature for example.
Now there is a way to get this in Gmail as per the picture above:
- Need Firefox…
- Install the great greasemonkey extension (and restart Firefox)
- Install this script
- Start your Gmail account
- Customize using the edit link

Wonderful, I was just talking about this with friends last week, wondering when such a search options will be available!
